Blushed at WMCFW

World Mastercard Fashion Week came and went in a flash. With a busy day job, a crashed computer, (I finally recovered everything- thank goodness), and the big #FancyPufsXPastelsAndPastries reveal, it was one of the busiest weeks yet, but I am so not complaining! I was beyond excited to be invited to attend the shows put on by The Collections, and did not want to miss this opportunity! I kicked off the week with a little pampering at Her Majety's Pleasure, Toronto's newest beauty salon, spa, bar and cafe and ended the week freezing my birdcage skirt off at the amazing Mikael D show. I was so amazed and inspired by all the Canadian talent and was just blown away by all the beautiful and stylish people. Outside the tents, the street style was bold, fierce and vibrant. I played with pastels and my first look was combined neutrals, accompanied by my favourite Rebecca Minkoff M.A.B. mini. Here are some snaps from outside the tents.

Did you catch me in Flare Magazine's "The Best Toronto Street Style From #WMCFW" round up?

FANCYPUFS x PASTELS&PASTRIES

Cotton candy has officially landed in Toronto, and I am beyond excited to introduce you to Fancy PufsFancy Pufs is bringing cotton candy back in a stylish and modern way with their fabulous mobile cart and all organic, natural, gluten-free sugars. With fresh flavors like lemon and pomegranate and non-traditional flavors like salted caramel and chai tea, Fancy Pufs will seriously wow your guests.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to style a pretty-in-pink, sprinkle filled, cotton candy extravaganza of a little girl's party for Fancy Pufs and I am beyond excited to reveal the photos today. We wanted to showcase their products in unique, fun ways, and what is more amazing than topping a marshmallow buttercream-funfetti birthday cake with a gigantic pink puf!? Marshmallow, sprinkles, pink cotton candy... it's literally what my dreams are made of. In terms of styling, the whole dessert table was adorned with pink accents perfect for any little girl's special day. We had such a blast! I styled and shoot the photos, while Michelle acted as master pufista, spinning puffy pink clouds made of cotton candy dreams. We also served up cotton candy waffle cones, cookie butter confetti popcorn (more on that to come) and bon-bons galore!

Check out the photos below and let us know in the comments what you think!

Thanks for such a sweet day Fancy Pufs!

Pastel Me Pretty

Although it may not necessarily feel like Spring, Spring has definitely arrived. The air is fresh, sunglasses are making an appearance and positive vibes are flowing from under the influx of Toronto Blue Jays' caps. Now that the sun is staying out later and the temperatures are somewhat bearable, I am fully embracing the season shift, and it really wouldn't be the start of Spring if I didn't go on a pastel shopping frenzy. The malls are so dangerous for me this time of year because I'll literally buy anything if it comes in ballet slipper pink, or mint, or blush. Here are a few items for Spring that I am currently coveting.

H&M Wool Hat
Joe Fresh Cropped Textured Sweater
French Connection Airbrush Fit-and-Flare Dress
Cynthia Rowley Long Sleeve Flounce Dress
H&M Earrings
424 Fifth Baylee Wrap-Around Pumps
Wilfred Marmontel Blouse
Kate Spade Cedar Street Hayden
424 Fifth Birdcage Skirt
10 Karen Walker Starburst Sunglasses
11 BucketFeet Flamingo Slip on Sneakers
12 Cake for Breakfast Mais Oui Mon Cheri White Tee
13 Steve Madden Drawstring Bucket Tote

What's on your wish list for Spring?

Easter Eats

With the Easter season being one of my favourite times of the year I have already started planning the dessert menu and outfit planning. Sweet, sweet pastel times are ahead, my friends!! If you're wondering what to bring to an Easter gathering, I have rallied some of my favourite treats to make for Spring. This bunny bark will always be one of my go-to's. It's seriously delicious -think golden oreos, mini eggs, marshmallows- and so easy since it requires no bake time. I've been making it for years and this year will be no exception! You could always try macarons in pretty spring colours, lemon cupcakes with Cool Whip icing, or sprinkle donuts! Be on the look-out for some more Spring themed desserts coming soon!

As of Late

Unfortunately I've been dealing with a computer crash all week, which is disrupting my posting schedule. Not ideal, but don't you worry- pretty pictures will be shared today! Here are a few updates of life lately. There is an abundance of pink going on and I couldn't be happier!

A pretty-as-can-be red velvet cake from brunch at The Windsor Arms.

Still gushing over all the prettiness at MoRoCo Chocolat's Sip & See event held last week!

Acai bowls are one of my favourite things to eat! This weather has me craving one daily.

I'm so excited about finally shedding the winter coat and sporting sneakers and light jackets.

La Boulange deliveries in bed are always welcomed! Thanks Mom!

Think Pink

Shades of pink have been getting all the attention in my closet as of late. I can't help it! The fresh spring air has me wanting to prace around in all of my most feminim pieces! Pairing this frilly sleeved,  blush top with crop, pale pink pants, and adding in some fun with leopard and gold accessories felt like the perfect ensemble for a fancy Sunday brunch at The Windsor Arms. The brunch, by the way,  was just as indulgent as I imagined-  our coffee cups were bottomless, we sipped on mimosas, and indulged in the gourmet dessert buffet. Brunch was followed by a trip to Holts to make up the perfect girly afternoon. I love spring Sundays! Have you officially embraced spring? What's your take on pink-on-pink?

Staycation

Sometimes you just need to mentally check out from everyday stress and chaos, and check into a hotel for the night with your sweetheart. Robe on, curtains tucked away and room service delivery are the necessities for the ultimate stay-cation. What do you think?

Neutrals

When you're running to catch a cab to dinner and suddenly you realize your outfit is coordinating with an architectural beauty of a building you stop and have an impromptu photoshoot. No? Just me? Can't be just me! The weather in the city has been gorgeous this past week; the sunny skies and warmer temperatures have me switching out boots for pumps and I couldn't be more excited. It's even light out past 7:30pm! I know we're heading into the "melty snow phase", but the crisp spring air is on it's way and there is nothing more crisp than a monochromatic white and beige outfit, with a hint of marble of course!

Around Town

It's been a while since I did an "Around Town" post, but the coming of spring is really reviving the city. There are so many fun and exciting events going on all over town during the month of March and if you're in Toronto I suggest making a point to check out some of these happenings!

Macaron Day | March 20: It's the fourth annual Macaron Day in Toronto, and many patisseries will be offering a free macaron and/or discounts all day! This is not something to miss as quantities are limited. Be sure to hit Bobbette & Bell, MoRoCo Chocolat, Le Dolci and Rahier.

Get Social Workshop | March 21: Bloggers Random Acts of Pastel and Bicyclette are hosting a social media workshop to go over all the major platforms and provide tips and advice on how to elevate your brand, blog or business. If that's not enough, there will be delicious treats and goodie bags to take home.

Bellwoods Flea | March 21: Local vendors, vintage finds, good eats and more. Sounds like a sweet time to me!

World Mastercard Fashion Week | March 23-27: It's finally time for Canadian designers to take the stage! Can't wait to see the craziness that will become of David Pecaut Square!

One of a Kind Show and Sale | March 25-29: I'm so excited to shop all things Canadian and handmade! There are so many local artisans and designers to look out for, around 450, so be sure to check it out. Tickets are $12.

Are you planning on attending any of these events? Let's connect!

Hair Care 101

I figured after all this talk about skin care, it was necessary to round up some of my favourite hair care products/tools. Winter does just as much damage to my hair as it does my skin; it's dry, static-y all the time, and I'm constantly looking for ways to add some nourishment. The products below are relatively new to my collection but already have a place in a my good books. Here's why:

Tangle Teezer: Let's start with the basics- a good brush. We're all looking for something that detangles wet or dry hair, is compact and can fit in your purse, and doesn't result in yanking and pulling out your locks!  The Tangle Teezer is from the UK and has revolutionized hair brushing. The sleek and compact design is so portable and makes it perfect for travelling. It even comes with a protective case so the teeth are always safe and it literally fits in the palm of your hand. My hair is fine, yet seems to get oh so tangly after the shower. The Tangle Teezer works magic. Seriously- no pain, and the bristles just glide though my hair! I don't know how I was getting by before this little tool came into my life, and I suggest you check it out! It's available at Sephora and comes in some pretty sweet colours/designs!

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo: This is by far the best dry shampoo I have tried to date, and I have basically tried them all. Since my hair is so fine it get's oily petty fast… but not with this baby around! It smells amazing and refreshes and revives my hair on the greasiest of days!

Lush Roots Hair Treatment: This is another hair treatment I love! It has a minty cool sensation, which refreshes the scalp and contains olive oil and honey which soften the hair and leave your hair shining.  It is great for adding volume to fine, thin hair, and you don't even need to dry your hair after using Roots, it comes out so silky-smooth!

Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment: Once a week or so, when I know I am going to be washing my hair later that day, I will comb the oil throughout my ends and tie my hair in a bun. I then wash it out about an hour later and this oil leaves my hair incredibly soft, silky and looks like I just left the salon. I also use the oil to infuse moisture, tame static and calm down my baby hairs.

Ribbon Hair Ties: On days where my hair is just unruly and untameable, these little hair ties are my lifesavers. They are chic enough to wear to  out, dressy enough for the office and can make any outfit look put together. Confession- I love matching them to my outfits!

**Thank you to Charming Media and Tangle Teezer for allowing me to review this product. All opinions are 100% my own and I would not recommend a product on pastels & pastries which I did not stand behind and love myself! Get yours at Sephora!

As of Late

This week felt extremely long. Maybe it's because I am anxiously awaiting Spring's arrival, or maybe because I have been looking forward to this weekend for quite some time. My momma and I have had a spa and brunch date booked since the Holidays, and now that March has hit I am in desperate need of that massage! Follow along @gabpacifico to find out where we go, and to see more updates like the ones below!

**Did you hear?! pastelsandpastries.blogspot.ca is now being redirected to pastelsandpastries.com
Wahoo!! I've been so excited all week. Just looking to streamline your search and get you here faster. Enjoy the weekend!**

Here's a sneak peak into my stay at the Intercontinental, Toronto. Breakfast in bed can make anything better. More to come!

Outfit details from a night on the town. These pumps are everything!

It may be vegan, and it may be gluten free, but it is my favourite donut in the city! The vanilla sprinkle from Tori's Bakeshop.

The bicycle outside of Free People has me wishing for warm weather and sunny skies.

More loveliness from Tori's; so worth the trip to The Beaches!

Uptown, Downtown

Black on black felt like the perfect combination to take me from a surprise birthday party in the north end to a late dinner/celebration in the heart of the city this past weekend. I know you read this here, but just because I go crazy for mint and blush, doesn't mean I don't love a good black on black ensemble! I whipped out these leopard party shoes, a fuzzy pastel coat, and a sequin/backless top for a little embellishment... a new haircut always helps too! Tell me- how do you elevate the classic colour?
